The trust between GCC e-commerce brands and marketing
agencies is at an all-time low. We understand why.
Before Nordec, we were on the other side of the desk.
We ran our own e-commerce stores across the GCC for
eight years. We flew to China more times than we can
count. Yiwu showrooms. Guangzhou factories. Samples
in suitcases. We handled sourcing, logistics, customer
service, and the ads. All of it. Ourselves.
We got a store to a decent number. Not life-changing.
Decent. And we thought, logically, if we could get here
running our own ads at night after the shipments cleared,
a real agency should take us to 10X that in a few months.
Not even close.
The first agency put us in learning phase for a month
and called it testing. The second month, revenue dropped.
The third month, they blamed a religious holiday for the
whole market's buying behaviour. They were charging on
percent of ad spend, so surprise, they wanted us to
spend more.
We went through three agencies. None of them beat what
we were doing ourselves.
Here is what we eventually figured out. The account was
fine. The offer was fine. The creative was the bottleneck.
Nobody we hired understood the GCC feed. Nobody could
shoot in Arabic without it reading as a translated ad.
Nobody was pushing 40 variations a week the way our own
store needed.
So we stopped outsourcing it. Built the team in-house.
Learned to shoot local, cast local, write hooks that
belonged in a GCC feed. Pushed the account like it was
a testing rig, because it was.
The numbers moved. Properly this time.
Other founders in the region started asking us how.
That is how Nordec started. Not as an agency out of an
agency background. As two operators who ran GCC stores,
hit the wall you are hitting, and figured out the whole
game comes down to one thing.
Getting people to actually want to buy your stuff.
We are really good at that.
